Project description:
During November 2006- April 2007 rescue archaeological researches were carried out on Alba Iulia, 18 Decebal Street for the purpose of discharging the archaeological load of the surface destined to build a family dwelling. From previous researches it was known the fact that the objective was nearby the Roman fort of the XIIIth legion Gemina and approximately 500 m north from Praetorium Consularis, the residence of the governor of Dacia province. Following the archaeological researches there has been discovered a room that came from a building of Roman period, of big dimensions, with at least 3 rooms, made from sandstone blocks fixed with mortar. The character of the building couldn’t have been established, but, considering the dimensions of the rooms and walls, we may assume that this building was raised during emperor Aurelius (161-180 A.D.) continuing its existence also during the 3rd century A.D.
